Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B1.1-CAR66 (Advanced Diploma)

Overview

Not all aircraft maintenance engineers have to be licensed, but the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority requires all engineering and maintenance work carried out on aircraft to be done under the supervision of a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME). This programme provides you with the Basic B1.1 license.

To become fully licensed by the GCAA, you will need a further two years of experience after the successful completion of the basic syllabus. Without the B1/B2 basic license, students would normally require five years of experience before being eligible for a license.

Why enrol on this programme?

Based on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in the next 20 years, airlines will have to add 25,000 new aircraft to the current 17,000 strong commercial fleet. By 2026, the industry will need 480,000 new technicians to maintain these aircrafts. Clearly, the international market has a huge shortage of LAME engineers.

EAU’s AME programme is licensed by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and complies with the CAR66 (B1.1) syllabus. Our Students benefit from a concurrent Advanced Diploma recognised by the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) in the UAE.

Accreditation

The Advanced Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance and the Certificate of Recognition B1.1 is a dual award conferred by Emirates Aviation University and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), UAE respectively. The EAU award is recognised by the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) in the UAE.

Career Prospects

EAU’s AME graduates will enjoy a high employability rate. Their career path is tailored towards becoming Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. They may also work with airline engineering departments or support aircraft maintenance organisations. While working in the industry, EAU’s AME graduates have the option of enrolling into a relevant bachelor programme at EAU on a part-time basis.
