Applied Bachelor in Avionics Technology

The Applied Bachelor in Avionics Technology offers a stimulating, dynamic, and hands-on course in avionics engineering. It includes the study of design, manufacture, development, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems in aeroplanes, satellites, helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).

The Applied Bachelor in Avionics Technology also offers a strong foundation in the key aspects of avionics field such as communications, navigation, aircraft flight-control systems, collision-avoidance systems, black boxes, radar and sonar. The programme prepares learners for various jobs and careers in the electrical, electronics, communication and navigation field with greater emphasis towards aviation industry.

The following qualification is also available as exit award of the Applied Bachelor in Avionics Technology.

Why enrol on this programme?

Avionics engineers work in one of the most technologically advanced branches of engineering. They design, construct, test and maintain electrical and electronics equipment on aircraft. Working within this field, will give you the chance to conceptualise a project, from the drawing board to planning and implementation.

The paradigm of the programme is skill-based with less focus on theory and more on coursework and application. Students will learn the intricacies of aircraft avionics systems, the various types of system failure that can occur and the implications of failures. It blends various disciplines such as mathematics, science, avionics technology including aerodynamics, flight control, electronics and communication. It is a highly skill-based programme with a view to making the learner skills transferable to a range of employment options within the aviation industry.


The Applied Bachelor in Avionics Technology is a dual award programme conferred by Emirates Aviation University and Coventry University, UK. The EAU award is recognised by the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) in the UAE.

The Advanced Diploma in Avionics Engineering is a dual exit award conferred by Emirates Aviation University and Pearson’s UK. The EAU award is recognised by the National Qualifications Authority (NQA) in the UAE.

Further Studies

The Applied Bachelor in Avionics Technology enables you to progress to study at Master’s level in several Engineering and non-Engineering disciplines.


  • High School Certificate - A recognised and officially certified secondary school certificate or equivalent with a minimum 80% as a total average, between 70 – 79% will be subject to an interview.
  • Alternatively:
    • Five GCSE/IGCSE O-level subjects + 2 GCE AS-level subjects with a minimum grade ‘C’ in all OR
    • Five GCSE/IGCSE O-level subjects + 1 GCE A-level subject with a minimum grade ‘D’ in either Maths or Physics.
  • Original certificate for either TOEFL Paper Based (500); or TOEFL CBT (173); or TOEFL IBT (61); or IELTS (5) or PTE Academic (36).

  • OR undertake EAU’s English language test.
  • Transfer admission/Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) is possible, subject to the applicable EAU regulations, in Years 1 and 2, but not allowed for the final year.
