The Research Centre
Research Fellow/Assistant Professor in Disease Modelling
- Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Job level: PhD
We are recruiting a Research Fellow or Assistant Professor to work on several projects on disease modelling which includes COVID-19 and diabetes in the United Arab Emirates in collaboration with local health partners. We are looking for outstanding candidates in disease modelling with a strong interest in data-driven disease modelling for policy. The postholder will join a vibrant research environment in the Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CDSA) and will contribute to general activities of the research centre.
Disease modelling for policy using data-driven approaches is a key priority area in the CDSA, thus will provide exciting opportunities for creating new initiatives, collaborations, and making an impact in this area. We are interested in an active researcher who is able to perform ground-breaking research and to apply cutting-edge mathematical modelling techniques to understand disease dynamics, impact of control programs and policies.
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline. The candidate should have established a track record or trajectory of research at a level of international excellence and demonstrated ability or potential to publish in relevant journals. Candidates should have experience in mathematical modelling of diseases with interest in epidemiology and public health analysis. In addition, the candidate must have technical expertise in developing and programming dynamical models (preferably in R/C++/Python), and the ability to understand methods for disease modelling such as uncertainty analysis, model comparison and parameter inference.
The post is a fixed term and full-time position and is subject to funding. If you are interested in the position and wish to apply or know more, please contact Prof Zindoga Mukandavirezindoga.firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please address your application to Prof Zindoga Mukandavire email@example.com. Your application should include the following attachments: Letter of motivation, CV with the names of three referees and a research statement.
