The  Master of Science in Engineering  Business  Management  is  designed  for  those  who  want  to  become managers  and  leaders  in technology-based  business. Students  will  develop  an  integrated understanding of strategic and operational management and acquire the appropriate intellectual and personal skills required to successfully operate in a demanding management environment.  

The following qualification is also available as an exit award:

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering Business Management

Obtain a PgDip in Engineering Business Management by completing 8 modules of the Master of Science in Engineering Business Management programme.

This programme provides students with opportunities to develop their careers in the areas of Engineering  and  Business  Management.  The  programme  introduces  students  to  all  the  key aspects of managing an engineering company, and to the required fields of general management necessary  for  a  complete  portfolio  of  management  skills  and  knowledge.  The  educational experience  enables  students  to  achieve  an  integrated  understanding  of  the  operation  and strategy of management, and to develop appropriate intellectual and personal skills.

Accreditation 

The programme is accredited by the Ministry of Education – Higher Education Affairs, UAE. Students that successfully complete the programme have the option of obtaining a Coventry University certificate in addition to Emirates Aviation University award

Career Prospects

The  Master of Science in Engineering  Business  Management  is  designed  to  fill  the  void  between  the specialist  technical  Master of Science and  the traditional Master of Business Administration,  specifically  aiming  to  develop  students’ ability  to  manage  in  an  Engineering  Manufacturing  Company.  By  studying  markets  and business environments alongside advanced engineering students can learn how to implement effective strategies that will bring rewards to the workplace and one’s career progression.

Mode of delivery

Block mode delivery of five-days per module. The five-day delivery span the weekend (Thursday to Monday) to facilitate minimum disruption for participants in full-time employment. Each day from 9.00am to 5.00pm (Dubai time).

Module Duration/Assessments

The duration of each face-to-face/online module is five-days only. The assessments (exams and assignments) are taken and/or submitted after:

  • 4 weeks (for the one-year programme)
  • 8 weeks (for the 18-months programme)

On successful completion of the programme students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • KU1 The key tools used to evaluate capital expenditure proposals.
  • KU2 All aspects and requirements of manufacturing industry and its supply chain.

Cognitive Skills

On successful completion of the programme students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • CS1 Complex initiatives in a coherent structured fashion using a variety of media.
  • CS2 The analysis and synthesis of the complexity of business and be able to apply business and management techniques to business tasks.
  • CS3 Undertaking independent and systematic enquiry at an advanced level and to take responsibility for the implementation of conclusions drawn from it.
  • CS4 Assessing the impact of manufacturing strategy on a company’s corporate strategy.
  • CS5 Analysing event-based system specification and devising a model of the system.
  • CS6 Analysing and underpinning quality of work with reference to supporting literature and case studies.

            On successful completion of the programme students should be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • PS2 Applying the concepts and processes involved in the manufacturing of goods and in the financing of a business enterprise.
  • PS3 Applying ethical considerations facing business and a commitment to the equitable treatment of all employees.
  • PS4 Applying advanced business and management techniques to the analysis and solution of problems across a wide range of business settings.
  • PS5 Conceiving, costing, planning, resourcing and managing complex projects.
  • PS6 Applying the personal and interpersonal skills necessary to lead individuals and to manage and work in teams effectively.

On successful completion of the programme students should be able to:

  • TS01 Evaluate and appraise the context within which business operates, recognising the national and international perspectives in strategic management and the effect of global markets on competitiveness.
  • TS02 Adopt a reflective approach to personal development and embrace the philosophy of continual professional development.
Minimum Admission Requirements Proficiency Requirements

Ministry of Education accredited degree:

  • A bachelor’s degree (Honours, if applicable) with minimum GPA 3.0

Bachelor’s degrees below the minimum GPA may be admitted on a probationary basis.

Coventry University + EAU (KHDA):

  • Licensed AME with min 5 years experience
  • Higher Diploma with min 5 years experience
  • Any other qualification/experience will be subject to approval

The following minimum test scores are acceptable for non-native speakers:

  • TOEFL IBT (79)
  • IELTS (6.0)
