Bachelor of Science in Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence

Apply

Computer Science is the study of computers and computational systems. It involves studying the theory of software systems and designing, developing, and testing new systems. The role of the computer scientist is not only writing computer programs but also developing new ways of automating the process of analyzing the massive amount of data to get valuable information that impacts our lives in different industries. The course involves understanding the mathematics of computation and how it can be applied to solve real life problems.

The BSc in Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence programme builds on a common first two years with Computer Science and follows with a third and fourth years dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced courses.

The programme has several key themes centered on computational thinking, which instills the ability to develop and understand algorithmic solutions to problems. This is backed up by practical programming skills developed in various relevant languages chosen to complement each other and demonstrate the spectrum of techniques and tools available. Students will learn the principles of algorithms, operating systems, databases, software development, and web design. Furthermore, students will learn how to apply these skills in Artificial Intelligence and learn cutting-edge techniques such as neural networks and deep learning. This will include modern algorithms for machine learning which are revolutionizing this field and driving recent advances in Artificial Intelligence.

Why enrol on this programme?

The BSCS-AI programme will equip students with essential degree-level transferable skills, encompass group and individual work, time management, written and verbal presentations, and critical reflection on their work. Students will learn how to use skills acquired in the programme to develop an entire software product using Artificial Intelligence, including modern tools used in industry, such as version control and automated unit testing. Methodologies and design techniques that support the development of such products and related ethical, social and legal issues will also be taught.

The programme is designed to produce graduates with the technical and transferable skills needed in a wide range of careers and industries, whether these are established computer science domains such as software development and database maintenance or emerging ones influenced by the growing use of Artificial Intelligence.
