Engineering Programmes BEng (Hons) in Avionics Technology

Apply

Avionics Engineering is a highly-advanced discipline that explores the electronic systems used on modern aircraft. Avionics system include the auto-pilot, navigation, communication and flight instruments. This programme provides students with the practical training and commercial acumen that learners will need to succeed in this advanced technological field.

The BEng (Hons.) in Avionics Technology is a three-year programme designed to offer a stimulating, dynamic, and high-quality vocational course in avionics engineering. This programme prepares learners for various jobs and careers in the airline industry on research, development, production, maintenance and testing of aviation electronics.

The following qualification is also available as exit award of the BEng (Hons.) in Avionics Technology.

  • Higher Diploma in Avionics Engineering – 2 Years

Why enrol on this programme?

The BEng (Hons.) in avionics Technology is a three-year program based on the British curriculum for higher education awards. During those three years learners will receive a broad education and application in all work in one of the most technologically advanced branches of engineering. They design, construct, test and maintain electrical and electronics equipment on aircraft. Working within this field, will give students the opportunity to conceptualise a project, from the drawing board to planning, implementation and evaluation.

The structure of the programme is skill-based with less focus on theory and more on coursework and applications. Students will learn the intricacies of aircraft avionics systems, the various types of system failure that can occur and the implications of failures. It blends various disciplines such as mathematics, science including aerodynamics, flight control, electronics and communication. It is a highly skill-based programme with a view to making the learner skills transferable to a range of employment options within the aviation industry.

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Avionics Technology is a dual award programme conferred by Emirates Aviation University and Coventry University, UK.

  • This degree has been accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council.  Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).  An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated (IEng).  Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.

Career Prospects

EAU has a first-rate working relationship with Emirates Airline and other UAE aviation establishments, which offer excellent job opportunities. Our students have gone on to find careers in both avionics design and application and maintenance engineering with aerospace companies, systems suppliers, component manufacturers and service providers.

Practical Experience

Not only will students learn comprehensive theory, but EAU will also provide to the students the means to gain practical experience in well-equipped laboratories and workshops as well as hands on experience in a real workplace environment through on job training and internships.

Accreditation for Prior Learning(APL):

(APL) is an academic process that recognises and values students previous studies.

(APL) is allowed in year 1 and year 2, but not year 3. i.e. students can skip modules offered in the first year and/or  in the second year if they had already studied these or equivalent modules at another institution.  However, all offered modules in year 3 will have to be undertaken.
