The Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering is a high school equivalent vocational qualification, ideal for students who want an alternative learning path to high school.
This programme allows students to progress to the workplace – either directly or via study at a higher diploma level at EAU. It is accepted on its own or in combination with International A Levels, by the UK and international universities, and higher-education institutes for entry to relevant industry-specific degree programmes.
In this programme, a student-centred approach to education, with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied to project-based assessments is pursued. It focuses on the holistic development of the practical, interactive and thinking skills required to be successful in employment and higher education.
The Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering provides a well-established route into a variety of specialist higher education programmes in the aerospace sector and beyond, fully meeting entry requirements for most engineering programmes at EAU.
The BTEC Level 3 qualification offered at EAU, has been designed with various employers, higher-education providers, colleges and schools to ensure meeting their needs. Employers are constantly looking for recruits who have a thorough grounding in the latest industry requirements and work-ready skills.
The Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering is a dual award programme conferred by Emirates Aviation University and Pearson BTEC, UK. The EAU award is recognised by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Dubai.
Students graduating from this programme may choose to begin their careers with an airline engineering maintenance facility, aviation maintenance, aviation manufacturing, or engineering services company. Successful completion of the Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering qualification at EAU also enables them to progress to an Applied Bachelor Program in a relevant field of study.
1.5 to 2 years.
This programme is offered on a full-time semester.
The Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering covers a broad variety of roles and involves the application of scientific principles and practical knowledge to transform ideas and materials into products and systems safely and support them during their lifetime. Our qualifications focus on a broad range of engineering specialist areas, including electrical and electronic, mechanical, and other aerospace-related topics. Students study seven mandatory units, including the following topics:
• Engineering principles and mathematics
• Health and safety, teamwork and interpreting and creating computer-aided engineering
• Drawings
• Design and manufacture of products
• Microcontroller systems design and programming.
Students will study a mix of electrical and electronic, mechanical and other engineering specialist areas, which include: electronic devices and circuits, electronic measurement and testing of circuits, the behaviour of metallic materials, maintenance of mechanical systems, programmable logic controllers, secondary machining processes.
