Higher Diploma in Business Management

The objective of the Higher Diploma Business Management (HDBM) is to develop students as independent-thinking professionals who can meet the demands of business employers and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications aim to widen access to higher education and improve the career prospects of those who take them.

Students will gain a wide range of business knowledge tied to practical skills gained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. Students are involved in vocational activities that help them to develop vocational behaviour (the attitudes and approaches required for a competence) and transferable skills.

Why enrol on this programme?

The mode of delivery (evening blended classes) allows individuals employed in full-time work to earn a bachelor’s degree while they work.

EAU provides you with learning which incorporates the practical application of Business theory to business situations based on current UAE and UK organizations. The curriculum provides a clear line of sight to employment. Business skills are developed through a combination of interactive classroom-based sessions, industry visits and presentations by guest speakers.  Students learn how to understand complex issues, analyze data, solve problems and communicate effectively. The aim is to produce students who are equipped to thrive in the changing world of work.

Career Prospects

Graduates are qualified to take up employment opportunities as a junior management trainee in Industry or Commerce, in the public and private sector, in the fields of Business Management, Administration, Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources and Public Relations.

The Higher Diploma Business Management is recognized by all UAE government departments.

Accreditation

The Higher Diploma in Business Management award is conferred by Emirates Aviation University and is accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE.

Two and half years

Mode of Delivery

Guided learning hour system. One course every month for a total period of 2 and half years.  Evening classes; recorded for future students’ reference. The mode of delivery facilitates minimum disruption for participants in full-time employment.

On successful completion of the programme, learners should be able to demonstrate:

  1. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the business environment, business strategy and the main functional areas of business organisations
  2. Ability to deploy accurately established techniques of analysis and enquiry within a business discipline;
  3. Knowledge, understanding and skills for success in a range of administrative and management positions in business
  4. Ability to apply underlying concepts and principles outside the context in which they were first studied, including, where appropriate, the application of those principles in a business management employment context;
  5. Knowledge of the main methods of enquiry in the business disciplines studied and the ability to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems in a business management context;
  6. Use a range of relevant tools and technologies in business and management context;
  7. Conceptual understanding that enables the student: to devise and sustain arguments, and/or to solve problems, using critical thinking techniques, some of which are at the forefront of business thinking;
  8. Apply knowledge of business and management techniques learnt into practice.;
  9. To describe and comment upon aspects of current research, or equivalent advanced scholarship, in business related disciplines; and effectively communicate the same orally and in writing
  10. The ability to manage their own learning, and identify ethical issues in business situations and address them in a responsible manner

  1. Five GCSE/IGCSE subjects with a minimum grade of "C", and

  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for the program's relevant requirement(s) may be required to complete the EAU entrance exam or a non-credit remedial course.
  • Students who completed their previous qualification in English are exempt from English requirements. Otherwise, students will be required to provide / complete one of the following:
    • IELTS Academic with a minimum score of 5.0
    • TOFEL iBT with a minimum score of 61
    • EAU English Test
    • Complete non-credited Foundation English Course with EAU
