The International Conference on AI and Data Science Applications and Advances (ICADAA) provides a global platform where aviation Artificial Intelligence and Data Science professionals, from both the industry and the academia, come together to discuss key strategic issues facing the industry and present contemporary research findings.

Call for Abstracts

The 1st International Conference on AI and Data Science Applications and Advances (ICADAA-2025) invites researchers, professionals, and practitioners to present their latest work on how artificial intelligence and data science can drive sustainable solutions for a climate-resilient future. This inaugural event will explore how innovative technologies can be leveraged across sectors to address the urgent challenges of climate change and sustainability. Authors are invited to submit original research articles, review papers, and critical perspectives research papers within the scope of the conference. Accepted papers will be presented either  orally or as posters.

Abstract Submission

All accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Book of Abstracts, which will be distributed to all delegates during the Conference.

Submission Guidelines

Prospective authors are invited to submit abstracts that concisely summarise the aim, methodology, key findings and significance of their work. Abstracts (in .doc format) should be submitted through the following link: click here. All submitted abstracts must report original, previously unpublished research results, whether experimental or theoretical. Abstracts submitted to the Conference must meet these criteria and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Abstracts should follow the Conference style guidelines and will be reviewed by at least two members of the Scientific Committee. Acceptance will be based on topic relevance, novelty and quality. All accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Book of Abstracts, which will be distributed to all delegates and made available on the Emirates Aviation University website.

Full-text papers, including results, tables, figures and references, will be required after the Conference for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings.

Plagiarism can also represent a violation of copyright law. All authors are deemed to be individually and collectively responsible for the content of papers submitted to the Conference. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each author to ensure that papers submitted to the Conference attain the highest ethical standards with respect to plagiarism.

Conference Registration

At least one author of each accepted abstract must register for the conference and attend to present the abstract for the abstract to appear in the Conference Book of Abstracts and be scheduled for presentation. Each author is limited to submitting/presenting a maximum of two Abstracts.

Responsibility and Visa Requirement

In registering for the conference, you agree that the Conference Committees do not accept any liability. If you are planning to attend the conference, a visa may be required and you should contact the nearest UAE Embassy or Consulate for more information. You will also need to make your own arrangements in respect to health and travel insurance.

Cancellation Terms and Conditions

If a registered participant cannot attend the Conference, a substitute colleague can be accepted. However, if a cancellation is required, we regret that no refunds can be made after registration.

Keynote Speakers

Dr. Dirk Jungnickel

Dr. Dirk Jungnickel is a seasoned executive with a unique blend of academic and industry expertise across various industries and geographies. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Data & Analytics at Emirates Group, where he leads the organisation’s Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence initiatives. Dr. Jungnickel’s career began in academia, where he pursued theoretical physics. He spent over seven years in postdoctoral research and held an assistant professorship in the field. This strong scientific background laid the foundation for his transition into the private sector. Over the past 25 years, Dr. Jungnickel has held senior executive positions across various industries and organisations. His extensive experience encompasses Business Intelligence, advanced analytics, data management and data governance, IT architecture and implementation, and project and program management. He has also served as an associate partner in a global management and strategy consulting firm. Dr. Jungnickel’s expertise extends across multiple industries, in which he has held roles as an accomplished specialist in data, analytics & AI, operations, and project management. His diverse skillset and leadership in data-driven decision-making have made him a sought-after speaker at international conferences, where he shares insights on leveraging data analytics in the aviation industry.

Dr. Jean-François Lamarque

Jean-François is currently the Head of Research at the Three Cairns Group, a US philanthropic organization, working on bringing the best science to enable a functional and scalable carbon credit market and accelerate solutions to address the climate crisis. Prior to this, he was the Chief Climate Scientist at SilverLining, a US-based NGO focused on safe solutions to near-term climate change. From September 2022 through January 2024, he was a Senior Expert on Climate at McKinsey & Company. Until September 2022, he was the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Climate and Global Dynamics (CGD) Laboratory Director, as well as the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) Chair. Until early 2018, he was the Community Earth System Model (CESM) Chief Scientist. He was a Lead Author on Chapter 8 (Radiative forcing) of IPCC AR5, published in 2013. He is the author or co-author of over 300 peer-reviewed articles and more than 100,000 citations, for which he has been recognized through the Highly Cited Researcher Award since 2016. He is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society. He received his Ph.D.in Physics from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) in 1993, with Pr. Berger and Dr. Brasseur as joint advisors.He developed the original implementation of interactive tropospheric chemistry in the Community Earth System Model, a feature that is now fully supported and widely used in the community. His research has focused on using chemistry-climate models to understand long-term changes of short-lived climate forcers (i.e. ozone, aerosols and methane) and their impact on climate and health.

Alaa AlRadwan

Alaa AlRadwan is an interdisciplinary architect and researcher specializing in AI-driven urbanism, sustainable cooling, and smart city innovation. She is the Lab Lead of Senseable City Dubai at MIT’s Senseable City Lab, where she oversees research, strategic planning, and collaborations with government, industry, and academia to shape the future of climate-resilient cities. With a Master of Architecture from Drury University, Alaa bridges design and technology to tackle the challenges of urban livability in rapidly growing environments. Before returning to MIT, Alaa built a strong foundation in architectural practice in Kuwait, where she contributed to large-scale commercial and retail developments, including international franchise brands. She later joined Kayan, where she advanced to Head of Design, leading a team of designers, and overseeing the successful delivery of design projects across residential, retail, and hospitality sectors. Her work spanned concept development, schematic and detailed design, client engagement, and site supervision - skills that continue to define and strengthen her architectural practice. Her research and design work have been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Urban Technology and Environmental Science & Technology, and featured in global media outlets including Forbes, The Guardian, Architect Magazine. She has also delivered lectures and workshops at institutions and events such as the American University of Sharjah, the Dubai Future Foundation, and MIT’s Global Conference. Recognized in urban innovation, Alaa is committed to advancing sustainable, technology-informed design strategies that enhance livability and resilience in cities worldwide.

Dr. Anna Bershteyn

Anna Bershteyn is an Associate Professor of Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Her lab uses simulation science to inform public health decision-making around large-scale threats to human health, including climate change and pandemics. She collaborates with local public health agencies, health authorities in several countries, and international agencies such as the World Health Organization. Prior to joining NYU Langone Health, Dr. Bershteyn founded and led the HIV/Tuberculosis modeling team at the Institute for Disease Modeling, now part of the Gates Foundation.

Prof. Shannon Yee

Dr. Shannon Yee is a Professor in the G.W.W. School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he directs the Scalable Thermal Energy Engineering Laboratory. Dr. Yee joined Georgia Tech in 2014 directly from his PhD at the University of California Berkeley.  In the midst of his studies, he joined the US. Dept. of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy (ARPA-E) during its inaugural year as the first ARPA-E Fellow.  Dr. Yee completed his MS in Nuclear Engineering in 2008 and his BS in Mechanical Engineering in 2007, both from The Ohio State University. In 2008, he was awarded a prestigious Hertz Fellowship.  In 2015, Dr. Yee was selected for an AFOSR Young Investigator Award to develop polymer thermoelectrics.  Dr. Yee is the recipient of the 2017 American Society of Mechanical Engineering Pi-Tau-Sigma Gold Medal award for “outstanding contributions to the field of Mechanical Engineering in the first decade of one’s career.”  In 2019, Shannon was selected for an ONR Young Investigator Award to develop polymer thermal switches.  Most recently, Dr. Yee has been directing the Generation 2 Reinvent the Toilet (G2RT) program and was recognized as one of Bill Gate’s Heroes in the Field in 2021.  Starting 2024, Dr. Yee serves on the Board of Directors for the Materials Research Society as an elected officer.

Prof. Vasile Palade

Vasile Palade is Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in the Centre for Computational Science and Mathematical Modelling at Coventry University, UK, where he leads the Theme on Machine Learning for Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing. He previously held academic and research positions at the University of Oxford – UK, University of Hull – UK, and the University of Galati – Romania. His main research focus is on neural networks and deep learning for computer vision and natural language processing, in the context of applications from autonomous driving and smart cities area, sensor data processing for health and environmental applications, social network data analysis, among others. Prof. Palade is an author and co-author of more than 280 papers in journals and conference proceedings as well as several books on machine learning and applications (Google Scholar). He has chaired and delivered keynote talks to reputed international conferences on machine learning and applications. He is an Associate Editor for several reputed journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Neural Networks, Journal of Big Data, among others.

Dr. Corinne Hartin

Dr. Corinne Hartin serves as the Director of Science at SilverLining and is a leading authority in the field of climate impact modeling. She has over 15 years of experience investigating the complex dynamics between the human and Earth systems. She specializes in leveraging multiple models to understand the physical and economic impacts of a changing Earth system, from premature mortality due to extreme temperature to coastal infrastructure damages from sea level rise. Dr. Hartin has served as an expert on numerous efforts related to Earth system modeling, economic impacts and financial risks of Earth system changes. Prior to SilverLining, she was a physical scientist at the US Environmental Protection Agency and a research scientist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Dr. Robert D. Meade

Dr. Robert D. Meade, PhD, MPH, is a thermal physiologist in Department of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability South Asia Cluster at Harvard University. Rob research focuses on the development and implementation of large-scale studies blending thermophysiological research techniques and shoe-leather epidemiology to support the development and evaluation of community-led heat adaptation strategies. He is also directing multiple projects investigating the upper limits of human heat tolerance and when these thresholds may be surpassed in world regions facing most severe increases in heat and humidity.

Presenting Authors

Dr. Seyed Mousavi

Dr. Mousavi received his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Computing from leading universities, with both his master’s and PhD theses focusing on applications of AI. He is especially interested in high-impact, real-world applications of AI. After completing his PhD at Imperial College London (2006), he served as an Assistant and an Associate Professor (2007–2024). Alongside academia, he has collaborated extensively with industry, initially as a software developer during his studies, and later as a team lead, contractor, and consultant. Out of his nine research grants, three were research and development projects. Most recently (2024–2025), as a Research Fellow at the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow, he contributed to a project on AI in healthcare, jointly conducted with and funded by Boehringer, a global pharmaceutical company. He has also been affiliated with the School of Cancer Sciences at the University of Glasgow.

Dr. Yacob T. Tesfaldet

Dr. Yacob T. Tesfaldet is an environmental data scientist and researcher with over seven years of experience in academia and applied research. He specializes in geospatial data science, GeoAI, and computer vision, leveraging GIS, remote sensing, and spatiotemporal analysis to address complex environmental and public health challenges. His research focuses on the spatial and temporal dynamics, integrating ground-based and satellite observations to support climate change mitigation, public health resilience, urban sustainability, and evidence-based policy evaluation. By applying advanced spatiotemporal forecasting and machine learning models, Dr. Tesfaldet helps stakeholders identify at-risk areas, design targeted interventions, and build data-driven, climate-resilient communities. In addition to his research, he serves as a Scientific Editor for Next Research, contributing to the advancement of interdisciplinary environmental and data science scholarship.

Mawada Tawfik

Mawada Tawfik is an Instructor and Teaching Assistant in Mathematics at Emirates Aviation University, Dubai. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, where her research focuses on applying AI and data-driven methods to climatology and environmental sustainability. Her academic interests include mathematical modeling, climate analytics, and machine learning. She is passionate about mathematics and interested in making AI accessible to everyone. In her free time, she treasures spending quality time with her family and friends.

Dr. Nasreen Khan

Dr. Nasreen Khan has a strong research background which reflects in her co-authoring reference book, publishing scholarly research papers in internationally recognised peer-review journals, and conference presentations focused on AI integration in management, strategic human resource management, work-family conflict, big data analytics in education, and employee happiness. She has been associated with different educational institutions in the capacity of editorial board member, research supervisor, and reviewer.

Phathutshedzo Mundalamo

Phathutshedzo Mundalamo is an Environmental Consultant at Airports Company South Africa. She holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Pretoria and a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management from University of South Africa. Currently pursuing her master’s degree in environmental management, her research examines climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies at South African airports. Phathutshedzo is passionate about driving sustainability and resilience in the aviation sector.

Dr. Bhavana Rajeev

Dr. Bhavana Rajeev is an enthusiastic researcher and business educator with a distinguished career spanning over 25 years in higher education. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes student-centred learning by creating inclusive, engaging, and interactive classroom environments. Her research focuses on the integration of financial services and ethical business practices, with particular emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. Dr. Bhavana has been a faculty member at Emirates Aviation University since 2018. Prior to this, she taught at several renowned institutions and held key academic roles, including Academic Research Supervisor and Doctoral Committee Member for PhD, DBA, and MBA programs. Through mentoring and evaluating academic research, she aims to support the development of the next generation of scholars and practitioners committed to driving ethical and sustainable business practices. Dr. Bhavana holds a PhD in Commerce, with her research centred on Finance, CSR, and Banking. She is also a trained teacher and holds certifications in academic research supervision. She has published and presented numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals and at international conferences.

Dr. Deepudev Sahadevan

Dr. Deepudev Sahadevan is a seasoned academic and applied researcher with over 15 years of combined experience in the aviation industry and data science. As a faculty member in the Faculty of Mathematics and Data Science at Emirates Aviation University, he leads research and innovation initiatives in Artificial Intelligence, data science, and business analytics, focusing on real-world challenges in aviation, transportation systems, healthcare, and sustainable smart cities. His interdisciplinary work bridges operational aviation expertise with advanced technologies such as simulation, optimization, and predictive modeling. He has contributed to ICAO-led initiatives and presented award-winning research at leading international conferences including IEEE and Springer, actively advancing intelligent, data-driven infrastructure solutions across the UAE and globally.

Maham Salah-Ud-Din

Maham Salah-Ud-Din holds a bachelor’s degree in software engineering and is currently pursuing a master’s in data science and Artificial Intelligence at Emirates Aviation University. As a Lab Assistant at EAU’s IRADA Innovation Hub, she plays a key role in advancing applied research and developing intelligent, real-world AI solutions. Her academic and professional journey reflect a deep passion for transforming complex data into actionable insights through machine learning, decision-support analytics, and predictive modeling. Maham’s work explores innovative applications of data science in aviation, healthcare, and sustainability, driving the intersection of technology and impact toward a smarter, more resilient future.

Prof Kaitano Dube

Prof Kaitano Dube is a Full Professor of Tourism Geography at Vaal University of Technology in South Africa and a C2-rated researcher with the National Research Foundation of South Africa. As a visiting Professor at Emirates Aviation University, his research interests are in tourism, aviation, and sustainability.

Peihong Liu

Peihong Liu is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate at Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business. His research sits at the intersection of Operations Management and Applied Economics, exploring how firms use information strategically and make decisions under capacity constraint and uncertainty. His dissertation examines the role and value of information in shaping competitive strategies across dynamic and data-driven markets. As a second-generation Dubai resident and a loyal fan of the Emirates, Peihong is passionate about bridging theory with impactful applications in Dubai’s hospitality and aviation industries. He is currently on the academic job market and looks forward to connecting with scholars and practitioners from around the world at Emirates Aviation University.

Femina Anzil

Femina Anzil is a dynamic PMO Manager at United AlSaqer Group, driving digital transformation and data-driven innovation with over 15 years of experience leading project execution, service delivery excellence, and business process automation across industries. She is currently pursuing her master’s in data science at Emirates Aviation University, Dubai, with a focus on AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to enable data-driven decision-making. Her expertise spans project management, cloud technologies, and business intelligence, supported by PMP, PMI-ACP, and ITIL certifications, as well as multiple Microsoft credentials in Power BI, Azure, and AI. She is passionate about leveraging technology and data to enhance organizational efficiency and strategic outcomes.

Suleiman Yakubu

Suleiman Yakubu is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Computational Science and Mathematical Modelling (CSMM), Coventry University, United Kingdom. His research develops computational frameworks for evaluating the mental health impacts of climate-related disasters, integrating Bayesian hierarchical models and machine learning. Suleiman’s work bridges disaster epidemiology, data science, and health economics to support evidence-based resilience planning in climate-vulnerable populations. His current project applies hierarchical modelling to the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) to quantify post-flood depression and community resilience.

Dr Nidhi Chaturvedi

Dr. Nidhi serves as the Program Coordinator at Emirates Aviation University, Dubai, UAE, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic and professional growth of students in the field of Business Management. With an impressive career spanning more than 18 years in higher education, she brings extensive experience, academic excellence, and a strong commitment to fostering quality learning experiences. Dr. Nidhi holds a Ph.D. in Marketing Management, with her research primarily focusing on key areas such as Consumer Buying Behavior, Strategic Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, and Aviation. Her academic background is further strengthened by a MBA , where she specialized in Marketing and Information Technology. Her teaching portfolio covers a diverse range of subjects, including Marketing Management, Consumer Behavior, Strategic Management, Project Management, International and Strategic Human Resource Management, and Organizational Behavior. Beyond teaching, she actively contributes to curriculum development, academic advising, and program coordination, ensuring that educational standards remain aligned with industry needs and global trends. Her leadership extends to managing academic programs, supporting faculty initiatives, and leading quality assurance processes within the university.
