Assistant Professor, Faculty of Mathematics and Data Science
Dr. Mousavi received his BSc, MSc, and PhD in Computing from leading universities, with both his master's and doctoral theses focusing on applications of Artificial Intelligence. He is especially interested in advancing high-impact real-world uses of AI. After completing his PhD at Imperial College London (2006), he served as Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering at Isfahan University of Technology, Associate Professor in Software Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology, and Assistant Professor in Data Science at Coventry University. Alongside academia, Dr. Mousavi has collaborated extensively with industry, initially as a software developer during his studies, and later as a team lead, contractor, and consultant. Out of his nine research grants, three were dedicated to research and development projects. Most recently (2024–2025), as a Research Fellow at the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow, he contributed to a project on AI in healthcare, jointly conducted with and funded by Boehringer, a global pharmaceutical company. He has also been affiliated with the School of Cancer Sciences at the University of Glasgow.
PhD in Computing, Imperial College London, UK.
MSc in Computer Engineering (Distinction), Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran.
BSc in Computer Engineering (First-class), Sharif University of Technology, Iran.
