Engineering Top-Up Programmes BEng (Hons) in Aircraft Maintenance (Top Up)

The Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Aircraft Maintenance is delivered in collaboration with Coventry University, UK. The two year (part time) programme is designed to provide a higher education to those possessing the equivalent of an EASA or GCAA Certificate of Recognition B1/B2. The curriculum is specifically designed to extend knowledge in areas of aircraft safety, and quality management that are relevant to all maintenance engineers.

Why enrol on this programme?

This programme gives aircraft maintenance engineers, holders of a GCAA / EASA category B1/B2 licence or equivalent, the opportunity to develop their career and consolidate their professional experience by gaining an internationally recognised academic award in a maximum of 24 months (part time) without having to take extensive time off work.

The programme gives maintenance engineers the opportunity to work in areas such as technical services, support services, maintenance planning and product development.

Qualification

Graduates of this programme will receive a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Aircraft Maintenance from Coventry University, UK (Ranked No. 12 UK University*) recognised by KHDA, UAE. The programme is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Engineering Society, RAeS, UK.  This enables graduate of this programme to qualify for the Status of CEng, Chartered Engineer and/or IEng, Incorporated Engineer in their discipline.

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Aircraft Maintenance is a dual award programme conferred by Emirates Aviation University and Coventry University, UK.

  • This degree has been accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council.  Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).  An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated (IEng).  Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.

Career Prospects

EAU has a first-rate working relationship with Emirates Airlines and other UAE local aviation establishments, which offer excellent job opportunities. Our students have successfully found careers in maintenance engineering with various aerospace companies, component manufacturers and service providers.

Duration

Two years (part-time).

Mode of delivery 

Modular basis (block mode) with classes normally held every 11 weeks (five days per module, Thursday-Monday).

Assessment

The assessment is based on coursework (in-class assessments, written assignments) and/or final exam. This will typically involve an average of 40 hours of timetabled activity per module with additional independent learning.

Admission Requirements

Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (LAME) or Higher Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering or equivalent*

*Notes and remarks:

  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements for the program's relevant requirement(s) may be required to complete the EAU entrance exam or a non-credit remedial course.
  • Students who completed their previous qualification in English are exempt from English requirements. Otherwise, students will be required to provide / complete one of the following:
    • IELTS Academic with a minimum score of 5.0
    • TOFEL iBT with a minimum score of 61
    • EAU English Test
    • Complete non-credited Foundation English Course with EAU
