Crystal Ioannou Hellmann is an Assistant Professor of Human Factors in Emirates Aviation University. She holds a bachelor of Humanities from The University of Cyprus, Msc of Science and Technology in Aviation (Aviation Safety) from The University of New South Wales and a PhD from Coventry University. She specializes in the Human Factors in Safety Management Systems and provides consultations to aviation organizations. She has been trained in aircraft accident investigation and participates in refreshing seminars. Her research field includes Human Factors, Safety Management Systems, safety management practices influencing performance of SMSs, safety culture, national culture, reporting systems. Dr Crystal is a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Women In aviation International, lifetime member of Experimental Aircraft Association, and she is the process of acquiring her pilot’s license.
