Dr. Afaq Altaf is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at EAU, specializing in Experimental Aerodynamics. His research focuses on optimizing the performance of airplane wings using winglets and add-on devices to alleviate wake vortices. He has expertise in low-speed wind tunnel testing, particle image velocimetry, wake vortex alleviation, and airfoil performance enhancement. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Monash University in 2016, following a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Before joining EAU, Dr. Altaf served as an Assistant Professor at 42 Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital’s innovative and disruptive coding school and the first GCC campus of the internationally renowned 42 Network of coding schools, recognized for its disruptive and innovative approach to education. He also taught in the Mechanical Engineering department at the New York Institute of Technology in Abu Dhabi, delivering a broad range of courses. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Altaf is a certified training provider with the National Qualifications Centre (NQC) and holds the NCFE Level 3 Award in Education and Training, as well as the NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement. His diverse expertise spans both academic and vocational education.
