Prof. Hossein Zare-Behtash began his academic career at the University of Manchester – UK, where he graduated in Aerospace Engineering. It was through his final year project on compressible vortical flows where he discovered his passion for research and aerodynamics. Hence, he continued onto a PhD at the University of Manchester on compressible flows. Following his PhD, he took up the post of Knowledge Transfer Fellow at the University of Manchester, responsible for undertaking industry-led research projects covering: boundary layers, boundary layer transition, wind tunnel testing with active (DBD plasmas) and passive (vortex generators) flow control, and advanced flow diagnostics. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE), Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Senior Member of the AIAA, and Member of the AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Technical Committee (APATC), Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society (MRAeS), and Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow. His research is focused on novel flow diagnostics, ML-assisted flow measurements, plume surface interaction during landing on planetary bodies, ISRU, and space exploration technologies.
