Dr. Yacob T. Tesfaldet is an environmental data scientist and researcher with over seven years of experience in academia and applied research. Specializing in geospatial data science, GeoAI, and computer vision, he leverages GIS, remote sensing, and spatiotemporal analysis to tackle complex environmental challenges. His work focuses on the spatial and temporal dynamics of contaminants and hazards, integrating ground and satellite data for climate change mitigation, public health, urban sustainability, and policy evaluation. By applying spatiotemporal forecasting models, Dr. Tesfaldet helps stakeholders identify at-risk areas, plan targeted interventions, and foster resilient communities. Combining predictive analytics with robust environmental data, he delivers evidence-based strategies that have tangible, real-world impact. Collaboration stands at the heart of his work; he thrives on diverse, multidisciplinary teams and values the knowledge exchange essential to addressing modern environmental problems. Through research, teaching, and mentorship, Dr. Tesfaldet strives to empower the next generation of scientists and practitioners.
